Taking Talent to the Top
If you aren’t training today, someone else will be…
16 October 2013
We were very pleased to be able to welcome Richard (Dick) Bowden who visited ACE
to see for himself the very valuable work that is taking place with young combined
events athletes in the County.
Dick is one of the driving forces behind schools athletics in Somerset and is passionate
about the sport. He puts a huge amount of effort into organising athletics events
and taking teams to the Regional and National finals in both track and field and
combined events. In 2011 England Athletics acknowledged the very valuable contribution
that he makes to the sport and Dick won the award for “Services to Volunteering”
-
Dick has endorsed the work that ACE undertakes since we conceived the idea earlier this year and the County Schools AA website has kindly advertised this and helped to promote the Academy. The County Schools AA website can be found at: http://www.somersetschoolsathletics.org.uk/
After his visit Dick commented …”Thanks for letting me watch – I thoroughly enjoyed the session.”… He has promised to visit us again and we look forward to seeing him soon!
It’s very important for the Academy to be supported by Somerset Schools AA since it is likely that ACE will be training athletes who will be part of future National Finals teams. We are also pleased that Roger Lee, Chairman of Somerset County AA has also endorsed the work we are doing, particularly in connection with Sportshall athletics.
